Whilst travelling through Kyoto, I found myself drawn to the quiet beauty that surrounded me. There was a sense of calm in everything, from the architecture and natural textures to the way people dressed with such understated style.
Nothing felt excessive and Everything had purpose.
I wanted to create a dress that reflected that same balance of softness, structure but also simplicity.
The mandarin collar became a subtle nod to the silhouettes I loved throughout my journey. Natural embroidered cotton was chosen for its effortless texture and ability to be connected to the ground, while the delicate scalloped lace softens the clean cut lines. The belt sits lower on the hips, creating a shape that feels relaxed rather than restrictive.
Every detail in this design has been considered.
Not to recreate Japan, but to honour what I noticed whilst being there, so the name Kyoto felt inevitable.
